Trike goes on sale for charity

A very special trike has gone up for auction on eBay today to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care.
The 1300cc Austin Metro-powered trike was built within the year thanks to donations from various motorcycle forums, local bike businesses and friends of Alison Porter who the bike was built for after she was diagnosed with cancer earlier in the year.
Alison Porter was a bike enthusiast, but when she was diagnosed with her illness could no longer ride her much-loved Kawasaki ZZR600, influencing the build of this custom three-wheeler.
Named ‘Amazing Grace’ by Alison herself, the trike has a step-through chassis, a Suzuki GSX1100 EFE front-end and twin Harley-Davidson Fat Bob tanks.
It also boasts Renault Espace Alloy rear brake callipers that have been grafted on to the Metro Hub carriers and standard discs, 12 inch rear alloy wheels and a standard Austin Metro 1275cc engine with an automatic gearbox.
“By late June we were ready to present the trike to Alison,” said Paul Barker who helped organise the project.
“Literally the day before, she was rushed into hospital.
“Chris and Neil, who built the trike, took it to hospital and she was taken to the window to see it.
“Her face was apparently a picture of delight.
“She said numerous times over the months that the trike was one of the things keeping her so positive.
“Ally passed away on July 1st this year.
“What we want to do is auction this trike and give the proceeds to Macmillan.”
