Aprilia changes for 2009

Aprilia has introduced the Shiver GT for 2009, but a lot of motorcycles in their existing range have also received updates.

Here’s what you can expect to find at your local Aprilia dealer in 2009.

Aprilia Shiver gets ABS
The Shiver was only introduced last year but there have been some changes – notably the introduction of ABS as an option for the first time. The ABS version will be available in Aprilia dealers almost immediately.

Aprilia Dorsoduro 750 gets all aggresive
Numerous improvements have been made to the Aprilia 750 cc, 90° V twin engine, which now features mapping specially developed to bring out the Dorsoduro’s aggressive character. An ABS version has been developed but it’s not thought there will be the demand for this model in the UK so it’s unlikely to be brought in.

Aprilia Mana gets ABS
Aprilia’s twist and go 839cc Mana gets the option of ABS for the first time but otherwise the new-for 2008 bike remains the same as the current model. There are strong rumours of a faired Mana arriving later in the year – expect to see it at the Milan bike show in November.

New colours for Aprilia Pegaso and Tuono
The Pegaso, the high-spec Pegaso Factory and Tuono R and Tuono Factory all get new colours for 2009.

Aprilia RS125 price changes
Three colour schemes are available and there are two versions of the RS125 – full power and restricted. Prices are now the same for all three colour schemes – ending the price difference for the Gabor Talmasci GP replica.

MXV and RXV get overhauled
The V-twin 450 and 550 (MXV and RXV) competition bikes have been given a good working over – weight has been reduced by 2kg overall and they remain some of the most focussed dirtbikes. The motocross machine has a switchable ignition mapping system that can be adjusted for hard or soft terrain.
