Aprilia unveils Shiver GT

Aprilia might have been flat-out getting the radical 1000cc RSV4 superbike ready but it’s still managed to give the rest of the range a bit of a makeover too.

The biggest news is the arrival of a half-faired version of the great fun Shiver – dubbed the GT.

Aprilia claim it’s a sport touring machine that offers comfort, wind protection from the new fairing yet remains good fun.

The existing Shiver is a brilliantly simple package that is well put together, modern, good fun and good value too – the GT widens the appeal to include those making longer trips, where a naked bike might not necessarily be first choice.

The half-fairing offers a decent level of wind protection – this is the only change to the bike over the standard Shiver.

The 95bhp 750cc engine and mixed steel and aluminium chassis remain unchanged. Also carried over is the innovative ride by wire throttle and changeable mapping settings that include Sport, Touring and Rain maps.

The rest of the bike is pure Shiver – that means powerful 320mm radial brakes, 43mm diameter upside down forks and the option of two-channel ABS.

Prices for the Aprilia Shiver GT are yet to be announced
