MCN has teamed up with Bridgestone to give away eight places on the Ron Haslam Race School testing out their BT-016 tyres on Wednesday 20th August at Donington Park.

Situated near East Midlands Airport, the school boasts some top names amongst their instructors; British Superbike ace Billy McConnell, TT hard-charger Guy Martin, British Superstock front-runner John Kirkham, and of course the man himself, former GP rider ‘Rocket’ Ron Haslam.

The Ron Haslam School has, after successful trials, proved BT-016’s to be a significant development.

Ron Haslam, founder of the school comments: “The BT-016 tyre is a step up from the BT-014 it replaces, a tyre I have had much experience of on my race school bikes.

“The feedback on BT-016s is great – they are much easier to manage once they reach the limit of their grip, giving plenty of notice and making them very predictable. They are excellent in wet conditions and I found the performance and durability to be first class.

“It’s quite remarkable really, considering this is a road tyre. I have ridden on race tyres that don’t give as much feedback as these – I can’t fault them.”

The Bridgestone Battlax BT016 is designed to give maximum sport performance to the riders who are passionate about sport bikes – with the chance to enjoy the exciting grip performance of Bridgestone’s MotoGP multi-layer compound technology.

Compared to the BT-014’s they are progressively replacing, the new BT-016 provides total handling improvement in all riding modes – with noticeably better contact feel, feedback, stability, grip, longer wear life and lower noise levels.

Bridgestone has combined its top MotoGP construction technology with its latest multi-compound technology from SACT (Straight and Cornering Technology) to produce a sport tyre that gives high-level grip performance in braking, cornering and acceleration.

The front BT-016 tyre has a new 3-Layer Compound (3LC): a medium compound in the centre for linear handling and longer wear life, flanked by softer compounds on the shoulders to secure high grip and a strong contact feeling.

The rear BT-016 tyre features Bridgestone’s new 5-Layer Compound (5LC) technology, used for the first time on a street tyre. The hard compound in the centre tread area gives good stability and higher mileage; the medium compound on the shoulders transfers the engine power to the road with strong traction; while the soft compound placed edgewise provides strong side grip and a massive contact feeling in deep lean angles. The line holding feels almost like riding on a rail.
