Fuel price war begins at supermarkets

Bikers are to benefit from a fuel price war that’s started between the UK’s leading supermarkets.

Asda is set to cut both fuel by 3p a litre from today while Morrisons has gone one further with a price cut of 4p per litre of both petrol and diesel starting yesterday (Monday) at its 285 forecourts.

Unleaded petrol will now cost 113.9p per litre at the 170 Asda forecourts with diesel now at 128.9p per litre.

The turn in prices comes after oil prices dropped in the last month, which is now finally being passed on to consumers.

A spokesman form Morrisons said: “We’re ensuring customers reap the benefit (of lower oil prices) by passing on the saving quickly, for cheaper prices at the pump.”

Both Tesco and Sainsbury’s are offering customers 5p a litre discount for customers spending £50 or more in stores. Tesco’s have been offering the service for the past few weeks and Sainsbury’s will begin the scheme from Thursday.
