Damage done to biking by excessive speeders

Anyone heard this? A speeding biker from Whitstable has been disqualified from riding and driving a vehicle for two years after riding at 146mph – the highest speed recorded by a mobile safety camera in Kent & Medway.

Is it any wonder some of us feel persecuted by the Government & Police when there are riders out there who do this? The damage done to biking by riders who do this is immesurable. As a community we need to disown those who do us harm in this way.

If you want to ride like that do a track day, go to Germany & ride the autobahn. We cannot hope to be treated fairly until we show that we are not the stereotypical speed freaks that the media and police paint us to be. A drink driver caught twice over the alcohol limit doesn't make the news, a biker caught at twice the speed limit does. We have to get our own house in order before the Govt & the EU do it for us.

So the person that wrote that grow up and use your brain. As for all the people that say they judge their own speed, you have to realise the way to get new speed limits is using action groups or a large group of people breaking the speed limit together not as an individual. I think if there was a few hundred of us travelling down a road at 5 miles over the speed limit past some rozzers this would at least make a powerful statement.

we all have to pay the price for chav dimwits and thick school run women, by bouncing over speed humps.

if, at 2am, on empty m@@ , i do 150, i get locked up. but im intelligent, no criminal record, wouldnt hurt a fly.

but if yer take piss, yer take yer chance. yet twats like brunstrom, and many others, say zero tolerance now, 33 in 30 gets fine and points. PATHETIC.

i would rather be looking for kids, hazards, than staring at speedo and flattening an innocent little kid, so now i do 25 in car, by schools, and get overtaken by harrassed schoolrun gompers, who then pull up 20 yds later on yellows to drop kids off.

the problem is lack of intelligence, i will do my own thing, judge my own speed, just get the thick chav bastards/school run nuts off the rd.

and teach your bloody kids that they will get hurt, RUNNING INTO RD if car doing 20 or 30 FFS!!

Some people here (and the law in general) are seriously kidding themselves its not about just speed its about ability and the skill of thinking strategically whilst riding. There have been many times when I have been riding at a fair pace on my Hayabusa only to see kids on bikes half the size desperately trying to overtake me on blind bends, double white's and even through traffic lights. Sometimes I find these antics amusing, more often I find them dangerous because the people doing them are only using the speed of their machine, they are employing no skill or judgement whatsoever. Sadly there has been more than one occasion where I have seen them further up the road with their bike in a hedge - and on one occasion dead on a stretcher. Too many here bleat about riding a bike because it brings them freedom, you'll have no freedom unless SOME people start to wise up and ride quickly instead of just fast
