Sports bikes for me

I bought my first bike in 1970 and it was a CB500 Four.

Since then I haven't been able to live without a motorcycle in my garage. Now, at 59 I just got a Honda CBR1000RR. I don't think that there is many guys at my age riding sport bikes.

Many old friends are now on BMW`s or Harleys, so for me, I have to ride with the "kids". But this doesn't make me harmful. I enjoy my ride every time and love sport bikes.

i am 59 in a couple of months and ride a gsxr1000 i know i am not the fastest out there but having been there done that i just do not care it is such a loverly bike to ride so go for mate enjoy just one questionwhich i am racking my brains on was the cb500four out in 1970 i am not sure i know the 750 came out in about 69 but thought the 500 was about 72 maybe some anorak in here can put my mind at ease

I'm 59, too and commute on my FZ1 Fazer (which is NOT, technically, a sports bike - but comes close) every single day, rain or shine!

I live in Lincolnshire, Yes Crash dead kill area Ha Ha,Anyway, Im only 38 but there are so many more mature riders here,I work at the Local Texaco 'Hockmeyers' petrol station, which seems to be the Common meet start point as it just before a major roundabout on to all the major roads, and many bikers are your age group going to the racing circuts round and about the country.

Good on yer, but I don't agree. I think there are lots of us older guys riding sports bikes. Also, why do you have to ride with other people on sports bikes ? I am a memeber of a small bike club and I will ride with anyone on any kind of bike. Biking is also a social activity and it is good to mix with all types of people who ride all types of bikes. Having said all that, it is good that you are still biking, whatever the bike. Good on yer mate.
