To buy the unquestionably brilliant Ducati 1098S you will have to pay a staggering £9,000 more than a used version of its predecessor the 999. Just think for the price of a new 1098S you can have a used 999 and have enough change for leathers, a lid and a few track days.
So, to find out if the newcomer really is worth the extra, we took a 999 and a 1098S down to the Jerez circuit in Spain and entered them into an endurance race. Watch the video to see which option makes more sense.
