Harley-Davidson’s new Sportster 48 has made its first public appearance outside the US at the Carole Nash MCN Motorcycle Show in London. The new bike was unveiled at the end of last month, and is based on the basic design of the Sportster 1200.

I agree with badassbiker, I owned a 04 883 custom and unless you clean it after every ride and store it in an air condition/ de-humidified garage then the things going to look like your grand-dads rusty old petrol mower before the years out. Harleys look good but just don't have the build quality. Plus for an all American traditional motorbike company they do sell alot of accessories stamped made in Japan.

Crap build quality
Sportsters are utter shit. Mine has rusted so bad Ive gotta get it all repainted. The rear mudguard rusted, the chrome fell off the rear wheel, mirrors bubbled, the laquer on forks failed and the alloy corroded, the chainguard rusted, front rim rusted right through etc. My Sportster is an 04 and is kept in a garage. The metal has only one coat of (shit) paint with no primer. It has no chance against UK weather.
The suspension is a complete joke. The first roundabout I encountered riding the bike home, nearly had me off. The exhaust grounds down at moderate angles. I've had to buy uprated forl springs and rear shocks and still grounds easily!!!
Oh and you can even buy a extension for the side stand coz when they made it they didn't think of putting it where you can actually get at it.
If want to buy a bike as a starting point and then have to replace every fucking thing on it then I would say go ahead and buy one. If you want a bike and just be able to ride it don't bother

If this bike can ride as well as the Triumph Speedmaster (a back to back test would be nice ;-) they shall be on to a winner! Love the bobber look, it is obviously diluted for mass marketing at a cost, but considering that and the price point... not bad!
MCN needs to get testing this thing (at least a 6 ft test rider please chaps, we know it will take shorties at that seat height).
