Sidi Vertigo Gore-tex, from £207 in the MCN Shop
Miles covered/time: 12,000/three years.
What’s good: These boots have seen three winters and many more fair-weather miles in mostly terrible weather. They’ve never leaked, my feet have never been cold and they’re comfy enough for me to wear them all day – whether that’s at a WSB round or in the office.
After all the use they’ve had the grips on the soles have worn down quite a bit, but I doubt I’ll ever get rid of these, so long as they continue to do their job.
What’s not: The Velcro tab can’t be pulled tight enough to snugly fit round my calves meaning they look slightly big. Maybe I have skinny calves. It doesn’t hinder their performance, though.
