The question is can I fit any aftermarket can (slip-on) with a connecting pipe, and if so what size diameter would the connecting pipe need to be?

A. With your exhaust silencer and link pipe being one-piece, you will need an aftermarket link pipe to fit your header downpipe.

The only problem we have ever encountered here is the new link pipe will not have a rubber bump stop fitted for the main stand.

With some exhaust companies they do a separate bolt-on bump rubber bracket in their kit. If not you may have to cook up your own.
