Triumph Alpinestars AS1 gloves, £84

Tester: Rupert Paul Miles

covered/time: 500/one month

What’s good? When I lost my six-year-old Nankai race gloves I spent ages finding something that would fit as perfectly. There’s a lot of rubbish out there. I tried and ditched three makes due to baggy palms, tight knuckles and excessive venting. Fit is personal, of course, but it’s as important as helmet fit for proper comfort and control. If these suit your hand shape I reckon they’re an ideal spring-to-autumn choice for UK riding: comfy, protective, well-made (in China!) and vaguely waterproof.

What’s not? They might be fiddly to clean, I guess. If you cleaned them.
