Ixon RS Noble Hero gloves, £39.99
Miles covered/time: 3000/six months
What’s good? I love all-black kit, and these gloves pull of the trick of looking all stealthy, street-supermoto-style, while also being terribly comfortable.
The double Velcro strap works really well, and adds to the feeling of overall security I get when wearing them.
Plus, on hot days, the perforations between the fingers (and the mesh material that covers most of the glove) do a great job of preventing my hands from overheating.
The palm is double-layered, which gives me confidence that it would hold up if my hand went down in a spill.
What’s not? While they’re particularly good to wear in warm weather, once the temperature drops in the evenings, or even in the mornings now that auumn is closing in, they can get a little too chilly for comfort.
No numb fingers yet on my London-Peterborough commute, but I reckon it’s only a matter of weeks away.
Also, apart from the moulded hard plastic protection on the knuckles, there’s little else by way of crash protection.
