Glove review: Weise Custom

Weise Custom glove, £34.99
Miles covered/time: 1900/18 months
What’s good: I’ve worn gloves that cost five times the amount you’d pay for these, and they’ve not always been as waterproof. Yes, they’ve been more comprehensively armoured, but that’s the pay-off.
When I last reviewed these gloves, I’d been wearing them for a month, and had covered 400 miles; another 17 months down the line, the other side of winter 2010, and now wrists-deep in the their second vernal period of use, they’ve utterly won me over.
Beyond their weatherproofness, they’re simple, black, understated and have a really comfy lining that won’t pull away when you take your hand out.
What’s not: A bit of padding on the wrists, plus the obligatory double-stitched palms are pretty much the only protection on offer here.
