What’s good: This new Shark Vision R is a marked improvement on my old Shark RSR2 Carbon, It’s so much more refined without losing any of the good bits. It still retains the extremely sturdy but slightly thinner 2.2mm visor, this has been improved with a much better rubber seal, and this is particularly good in heavy rain, so you do not get rain running down both sides of the visor impairing your visibility.
On the subject of visibility, I am a keen fan of the open face helmet, and I have to say the visor aperture on the Vision R is as close as I’ve come to that open-face feeling in a full-face lid. And if the sun is out, the Vision R has a very cool integrated drop-down tinted visor operated by a small lever on the side of the helmet. It comes ready to accept the 'Sharktooth' Bluetooth communication system, which I have already fitted (this takes about 15 minutes to do and is very unobtrusive when you’re wearing the helmet – full report on that will follow).
The chinstrap mechanism is comfortable as well as quick and easy to use. The lining is fully removable for ease of cleaning. In all this is a very well thought out and nicely designed helmet, nice and quiet with enough vents to keep cool in the summer.
What’s not: Nothing as yet I am pleased to say.
