Helmet review: Schuberth S2

Schuberth S2, £499.99
Miles covered/time: 2500/two months
What’s good: I have ridden with Arai helmets for many years but this new Schuberth S2 is the best road lid I have ever used thanks to a brilliant combination of comfort, quality, quiet and ventilation.
Through the wettest summer in history this lid has done some big road miles, been to the Isle of Man TT, done a couple of track days and been soaked through on numerous occasions and has never been anything but brilliant.
This is a sport touring helmet and in that role it has been simply superb… almost faultless, in fact.
The visor change system is easy to use, the internal sun visor works well and this is the most stable helmet I have ever used, even at high speeds. I am now used to the ratchet chinstrap, too.
What’s not: The price at a penny shy of £500 is as eye-watering as equivalent lids from anyone else. The internal sun visor doesn’t suit everyone’s taste, some thinking it a bit too Darth Vader.
In really torrential rain some rain was leaking through the top of the visor but the weather was extreme.
