Akito Desert suit, £179.98

Miles covered:
2000/one year
What’s good?
With such a massive range of similar adventure-style suits out there, it’s incredible that this suit has all these features for under £200! I love the fact it’s totally versatile. There are three stages to the jacket: the heavy-duty polyamide outer, a removable thermal liner and also a removable waterproof membrane. So you can wear it in the winter with all three layers, have it as a lightweight garment in the summer and make a decision on whether to keep in the waterproof membrane or not depending on how unpredictable the weather’s going to be.
What’s not?
I think I went for the wrong colour. There was (and still is) and anthracite version available that looks just as good and won’t get quite so grubby looking when you use it all year round. The armour feels really light, but it is Knox CE approved so I put my trust in the name even though they’re not the bulkiest protectors I’ve felt.
