Alpinestars Excursion Gore-Tex trousers £249.99
Miles covered/time: 1000/five months
What’s good: These Gore-Tex touring trousers are really warm, comfortable, easy to move around in and very well-made. Like the Excursion Jacket, the trousers are constructed from a Teflon-coated, abrasion and tear-resistant fabric with a waterproof Gore-Tex membrane.
It has CE-certified knee and shin pads and soft padding on the hips. The trousers have big, easy-to-reach zip-up pockets, the bottoms zip-up over your boots and they’re long enough not to ride-up, even riding a bike with high pegs.
Don’t think that Alpinestars are necessarily expensive, these are actually a tenner cheaper than the equivalent Summit Gore-Tex Performance Shell trousers from Hein Gericke.
What’s not: £250 is a lot to spend on a pair of trousers, but they’re on par with the competition and this is what you pay for the ultimate in weather protection and comfort.
