Ogio Rig 9800 LE kit bag £179.99
Time used:
Five years

What’s good: This kit bag must have been around the world with me 10 times over, road testing for MCN. It’s seen hundreds of luggage belts, airplane holds, racetracks and hotels.

I’ve also been using it to pack my racing kit for the past five seasons and even take it on holiday. It’s been my trusty companion all this time and done me proud.

It can easily hold my leathers, boots, gloves, lids, body armour, undersuits, waterproofs, toiletries and enough normal clothes for three or four days. With its wheels and pop-up handle it’s easy to lug around, too.

What’s not: It’s quite heavy before you’ve put anything in it, so on a small trip with riding kit and minimal clothes its total weight can be between 20-23kg - so there’s excess baggage to pay on some of the tin-pot airlines.

The zip for the main compartment is starting to come away from the bag now, but given the stress I’ve put it under over the years trying to cram stuff into it I’m not surprised. It’s not available in these Bridgestone colours any more, either.
