Chain Tsubaki Racing Pro Chain £147.17
Miles covered: Eight laps of the Isle of Man TT plus two days racing at Olivers Mount.
What’s good: Chains famously snap at the TT they take a massive strain, the jumps and undulations really give them some punishment. The Tsubaki chains are lightweight, specifically designed for racing, ultra-low friction yet strong at the same time, same as the ones used in WSB, BSB and MotoGP. The lightness actually adds BHP compared to a standard chain as there is less inertia. We only had to alter the chain once after the first initial stretch after practice, no complaints – highly recommended.
What’s not: A little pricy compared to standard ones, but arguably the chain is the most important part of a bike, without it you aren’t going anywhere. After spending so much money on the race, getting there, entry fees, etc. why skimp on the chain? Plus from a safety point of view I want the best chain possible spinning next to my ankle.
