Airhawk 2 inflatable saddle, £159
Miles covered/time:
1200/three days

What’s good: I used an Airhawk saddle for the first time earlier this year when I did a trip around the UK on a Triumph Explorer 1200 which saw me covering more than 1200 miles in three days. I knew it was a long trip and I had been warned the Triumph seat wasn’t the comfiest for the job so the Airhawk was fitted.

As long as you put only just enough air into the cushion it works brilliantly and I was in fine fettle by the time I got home. You basically roll around on the top of little air sacks and relieve any pressure points.

What’s not: It doesn’t fit in a tamperproof way so I never felt comfortable enough leaving it on the bike overnight in case someone pinched it.

For the shorter of leg you have to remember you sit higher on the bike with this fitted so touching the ground is not as easy.
