What’s good? I’ve been a fan of the Ventura system since my husband bought a set for his Ducati 998S in 2002. It’s a very simple system to use, with a bike-specific fitting kit and rack that takes a universal 51-litre bag. I’ve fitted the system to a Ducati Monster 695, Kawasaki ER-6n and Suzuki GSX650F – and each time it’s been a five-minute job to fit. If you don’t travel light the rack can carry two of the bags zipped together, though I’ve always found one holds more than enough stuff for riding holidays. My bag is seven years old, looks a little tired and faded but other than that it’s still going strong. When the luggage isn’t in use I tend to remove the rack as it’s a little unsightly. I’m about to take charge of a Yamaha Fazer8 for the year and plan to fit the system in readiness for a touring holiday to France later in the year.

What’s not? The main compartment of the bag could do with being divided into a couple of sections just to make it easier to pack. At the moment if there’s anything I need to get my hands on quickly I pack it in the external pockets.
