Q. I have a 2001 Aprilia RS250 and I'm looking for the best tyres for fast road use (not track days).

A. Look out for some Bridgestone BT-090s.
They're a discontinued tyre strictly speaking, but there's plenty about and you can probably get a deal - racers commonly use Holbeach Tyres (01406 423611/422462, info@holbeachtyres.com) to get them cheap.
Failing that, consider Dunlop Alpha 10s. I don't think there's much to call between the two - Bridgestones work well in the wet, and either will be more than enough on the road.
You can also get small bike specific Pirelli Diablos, but we haven't tested these. I'd seek out some Bridgestones BT-090s first - about £160 a pair on the MCN shop.
