Riding in France

john good, 02 October 2008 08:30

I and two other mates had a 5 day trip around France in June. Traveling through a small town, slightly lost due to road diversions, we were stopped by two french plod bikes. We were told that we all drove over a stop sign and we were fined on the spot! Fortunately the plod were in a good mood and only ...

Sometimes you just can’t win.

Dan Aspel, 10 September 2010 14:39

Sometimes you just can’t win. You’re riding along on a low-powered touring bike, taking in the scenery, breathing deeply and slowly and then… … we won’t spoil the surprise. The rider apparently escaped with nothing worse than a lower leg fracture, thankfully.

How to keep biking down to a sweet roar

Simon Deane-Johns, 02 September 2008 17:13

Keen bikers might shake their heads in disbelief, but I've been guilty of denial and procrastination over this since Jan '02, when I began blasting out along the M1 to Watford every weekday on an 1150GS. Boy does that wind howl in your ears at... ahem... 70mph. Ear plugs seemed an obvious solution. But the little yellow foam ones had ...

Importance of gloves!

Kate Ralph, 20 July 2011 16:58

My pride and joy is in a coma right now after I was knocked off after being pulled out on. I was wearing all the right equipment and thankfully got away with just a broken wrist, a ligament tear and a numb knee. I am absolutely sick of seeing riders riding without gloves! What do you put down first out ...

Riding skills: Beware black ice

Dan Aspel, 02 December 2010 13:38

This video, shot in the Vancouver area, shows the dangers of black ice on an apparently clear road.  As the road was slightly elevated above sea level, rain water that fell in previously warm conditions began to freeze as the sun started to set. The bike began to lowside as grip was lost on the black ice, then as soon ...
