Disappointing NEC Show
09 December 2009 19:18
I went to the NEC Show this year as I have done for several years, even though Harley-Davidson, Buell and Honda were absent.
After driving up from London I had to pay £8 for the privelege of parking miles away from the Halls. The £17 entry price was a bit steep. Show programmes that used to be free now cost £4 - another rip off. I didn't buy one.
Norton, KTM, Triumph, BMW, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha all had very good stands, as had Enfield and Husqavarna.
I couldn't find the Ducati stand but I didnt miss much from what I heard. It only had two bikes on display and you couldn't throw your leg over them.
But where were the Italian? Aprilia, Benelli, Guzzi, MV, Bimota. None of them were present.
Knowing how rubbish the food and drink is I took my own. My verdict - This years show was very disappointing.
I don't like the Excel show much either but it's in London so is easier for me to get to.
I agree with the other blokes who said it should be held in Spring or Autumn, so we can ride there, not in mid-winter.
I didn't see any bargains at the show even though I went on the last Sunday. And its beginning to look more like a huge TK Maxx of motorbike clothing.
