Module 1 test - It's just luck!

Having read the stories on here I too am in agreement with wondering the point of the Mod 1 test.

Yes U-turns are good to put in, slow moving- Yes realistic in traffic jams, going around corners- indeed!

Emergency stop- Absolutley. I know it looks like sour grapes having failed for the second time and that some pass 1st time and are wondering what riders less fortunate are moaning about but in fairness...

It is basically luck on the day... With that in mind I have been unlucky twice!

The first time I took the Mod 1 I clipped a cone with my boot- not even the bike!

Ok learn from this- keep tootsies in in future. Took it again today, confident that I was truly ready for the test having clocked up nearly 2000 miles on my 125cc bike since the last mod 1 test 7 weeks ago, all the course was comepleted fine or so I thought.

Did the figure of 8, swerve test and was under the KPH, did it again.... 50+ KPH- Great!

The emergency stop, again under at 46-47 came to a stop as directed quickly and what I though effectively.

So in an emergency with slightly damp tarmac stopped in time... Nope do it again... Did it at about 50, perfect emergency stop. Got the feedback- the slowest emergency stop failed as the back wheel locked producing a little smoke from the tire.

A skid then! FAIL- Game over! Do it again! Luckily for me my instructor Dave is generous, patient and caring of his pupils- lucky for me he doesn't charge £200 each time I have re-tests.

I saw one poor girl show up on a 125 took her instructors 500 bike around the Mod 1 circuit- she like me was unlucky and he wasn't caring at all.

For those that are about to take this test- go with an open mind, practice is always good, but it is after all luck on the day.

If experienced riders can fail what hope do less experienced have? For those that do pass first time- congratualtions but be a little sensitive for those less lucky.
