at the proposed new parking regulations for Edinburgh, where most of the city centre motorcycle parking bays are to be converted to car parking bays.

However, when I checked with the Council, I was informed that the new regime, which will also allow cars to park in Residents Permit bays and vice versa, motorcycles will be allowed to use car parking bays, free of charge. On further investigation, I was told that more than one bike can park in the bay.

If bikers were feeling particularly mean, they could park one bike per bay along an entire street, denying car drivers any space at all.

The new regime has yet to be implemented, it was supposed to start this year, in April, but so far nothing.
