BMW GS sceptics take note – Ducati’s Multistrada 1200 has just completed its first circumnavigation of the globe!

Italian Paolo Pirozzi set off on his journey in June last year aboard one of the very first 1200S models off the Ducati production line. Since then, the 31-year-old president of the Ducati Dreams Club in Naples has covered almost 62,000 miles across five continents, visiting 80 Ducati owners clubs along the way before completing the journey after 350 days at Imola.

On leaving Italy Pirozzi passed through Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and northern and eastern Europe before heading through Russia and Siberia. In Japan the bike received its second service (plus another of eight pairs of Pirelli tyres the Ducati used during the trip) after which he headed through Malaysia, China and Pakistan.

After Australia the bike was shipped to Canada and Pirozzi then rode on through the US and South America before returning to Europe.
