Adventure travel firm Nomad Biker is running a two-day course in Hostile Environment Training, designed to give you the skills you need to conquer your fear of the unknown.

The course, run by ex-Commandos, covers some pretty hardcore lessons such as mine clearance and kidnap/capture scenarios, as well as some essential basics such as bike maintenance in the field and how to use a map and compass when your satnav fails.

A separate, third day covering off-road riding skills can also be arranged. The two-day course costs £395 per person, and includes accommodation.
