Your company name?
Motorcycles and Mountains

Year established?

Which countries do you operate in?
Nepal,  Tibet and India

What's your most popular tour?
The Mustang tour in Nepal, which has 4 days off road riding.  Closely followed by our Kathmandhu-Lhasa tour which goes via Everest base camp.

What's included in the cost?
Everything!  All accommodation, meals, bikes, fuel , permits, internal flights.  We even pay for your soft drinks.  Also included are a back up jeep (for luggage and spare parts), our expert ever-smiling Enfield mechanic, a medic with Gamow bag in case of altitude sickness and all the local knowledge and experience of twice-Everest summiteer,  Dawa Sherpa.  Just bring yourself and your bike gear and we do the rest, from picking you up at the airport to dropping you off again at the end of your adventure.

Do you have hire bikes available?
On all our tours, we provide our own 2010 Royal Enfield 500cc Classics with fuel injection which are more than a match for the terrain out there.  We keep our bikes in top condition and  hiring bikes out tends to mean they get  trashed pretty quickly, so, no, we don’t hire our bikes out.  We can recommend a few companies that do, though.

Do you offer self guided tours?
No.  But we do offer guided private tours which are becoming more popular.  Dawa and Mike are currently (June ) leading a private tour out in Tibet.

Is travel/breakdown insurance compulsory?
Good travel insurance is compulsory for your own safety.  If you had an accident up in the mountains, you may need to be helicoptered out and that is obviously pretty costly.  Your insurance needs to cover this and , of course, riding 500cc bikes.  We can give you information and advice on the best cover for your money.

Do you need to have previous touring experience?
No.  However, being a confident year- round rider in the UK is preferable.  Experience of riding in different conditions is useful , especially for the Mustang tour with its off-road section.  You could be riding through mud, gravel, boulders and fording fast-flowing rivers  in one morning.  Every tour starts with an introduction to the rules of the road (you will learn to love your horn) and Mike offers an off-road training day which will prepare you for the conditions.

Are there any specific machine requirements? (cc, age, etc)
See above.  We use our own bikes.

Can I bring a pillion?
Yes, pillions are welcome at a discounted price.

What are the deposit requirements/terms.
We need a £500 deposit per bike.  This is refunded at the end of your trip as long as the bike is not needing any major work.

Do you offer financial protection?
Motorcycles and Mountains is a UK registered company so, by law, your money is held in a Trust Account until the end of your tour.  The Travel Trust Association (TTA)  is the body which guarantees your money is safe.
