World tour help needed

Anonymous, 01 August 2012 22:48

I'm planning a motorcycle tour tour covering 200,000km through 29 countries and I need help trying to organise the trip. I am trying to find information on which documents I need; which kind of visa, how to get permission for it etc. It would also be helpful if any of you guys had suggestions for what bike I should use. Ideally it would be cheap as ...

Simmer Dim Rally, Shetlands, 2011

andywhit, 14 November 2011 18:02

Saturday 11 June 2011Finally left Durham around 11:00am in glorious sunshine. Everything was going fine till the Gateshead Western Bypass, when a lunatic with Dutch registration plates decided it was a good plan to come down a slip road and turn right! Just managed to avoid him, her? and the central reservation barrier. By Morpeth we were in a layby ...

Budget Euro tour

oddjob183882, 06 October 2011 14:44

For my 2011 three week/3500 mile solo European tour, I travelled on some quite challenging roads! On Sunday 14th August I took the ferry from Portsmouth to Bilbao at a not unreasonable cost of £255. I has also prebooked the return sailing (Calais to Dover) with P&O for £30. Thankfully, the Bay of Biscay was like a millpond! Upon leaving in the ferry ...

Picos De Europa

runsinit, 26 September 2011 13:33

I've just come back from Northern Spain, the Picos De Europa mountains in a 16 bike group. The roads and scenery around there are truly stunning. The Atlantic-generated weather however was a bit hit and miss but a good time was had by all. Picture is at Riano, nestled in the mountains, with Andy, Gordon and Lee.

Fun and disaster in Wells

justicer, 19 September 2011 13:17

Disaster was averted last week when Simon and myself were riding home from a two day tour around the Norfolk coast. The rear tyre on Simon's Triumph Daytona 955i began to look decidedly square! This looked like a real problem until we had some great assistance from the AA and Peter Baker at Motorcycles Direct in Kings Lynn. He and his ...

A morning ride in Transylvania

twistedplanet, 10 September 2011 06:28

This video was taken with my helmet cam (GoPro HD) during my summer 2011 Transylvanian trip. Every morning started with a ride through the hills of Hargita for breakfast on my Suzuki GSXR-1000 K5 that I took over from Australia. What a way to start the day!

A blast around the mountains (avoiding sheep)

YORKSHIRE1003, 05 September 2011 09:16

What do you do if you’re 21 and you’ve been riding your first ever 600 for only five months? Go to Scotland with some petrolheads! I’ve been riding motorbikes for five years but only five months on anything above 125cc. This March I bought a 2008 Yamaha FZ6-S2 so my mate asked me if I wanted to go to Scotland. Ok then. The ...
