Kymco Super 8 125 (2010-current)

The Super 8 125 is probably the most polished feeling scooter that Kymco make. It offers the sportiness of the Agility with the comfort of the Like. The ride has a nice feel to it and the finish on the dash, seat and pipes looks the best of the lot. It’s well priced too.

Garelli XO 125 (2010-current)

Famous Italian motorcycle brand Garelli is back with a new range of scooters and mopeds. The XO is effectively their flagship model and benefits from sharp looks, stable 16” wheels and decent disc brakes. It’s a stylish and perfectly adequate town run-around - the only drawback is a slightly lacklustre engine.

Yamaha BW’s 125 (2010-current)

The BW’s 125 is an off-road inspired scoot that goes nicely and looks even nicer - rugged styling marks it out as a small scoot aimed at blokes. At £2,499 it’s not the cheapest 125 scooter on the market, but nice detailing and decent performance help to justify the price.

Peugeot Vivacity 125 (2010-current)

Classy styling, nice attention to detail and a list of handy well thought-out features make the Vivacity 125 look like a charming city commuter package. Overall it strikes a tempting balance between quality and price. The only slight let down is its performance.

This is the middle capacity in the GP-1 Derbi range and when you hear the spec of the Derbi GP1 125 Racing scooter it’s easier to think of a proper motorcycle rather than a funky-looking twist-and-go scooter. The Rieju SMX 125 and 50 models are Supermoto styled bikes aimed at novices, with the 125 featuring a 14bhp Yamaha engine, Paioli suspension and a tall seat height.
