As Suzuki’s much anticipated and long overdue early 1990s CBR600 rival, the Suzuki RF600R nearly came up trumps. Nearly, but not quite. The Suzuki RF600R's revvy engine, fine handling and roomy comfort are plusses. Frankly weird styling and brittle build are downsides. Still; good value though…

Honda CB750 F2 (1992-2001)

The Honda CB750 F2 is not the most exciting motorcycle to leave the Honda factory but a competent, comfortable cruising motorcycle nonetheless. Adequate suspension, good riding position, top brakes and a strong engine are plus points but the Honda CB750 F2 is let down by average handling and a lack of real zest. Sadly, rather boring.

Basically the Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide Sport is as per the stock Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide but with a touch more hard edged sporting attitude courtesy of flat bars, a different seat, twin disc brakes and a touch more mean and moody matt black paint.

Honda SLR650/Vigor (1996-2001)

The Honda SLR650 is a fairly joyless machine that barely redeems itself as a reasonably efficient commuter. Essentially it’s a more heavily road-biased Dominator built at Honda’s plant in Spain, back in the days when the Continental factory’s quality control occasionally went adios. A Honda CB500 is simply miles better.

Triumph Thruxton (2003-current)

The Triumph Thruxton is a great looking retro cafe racer, which just doesn't have the punchy power you'd expect of a big twin. It also sounds dull, boring almost. Compared to buying a well restored Triton 650 for the same money, the modern day Triumph Thruxton is a weak imitation of genuine cafe racer cool.

The Harley-Davidson Softail Standard has classic Harley looks and technology for the custom fan who wants the authentic American experience. The Softail family has concealed rear suspension for a hard-core ‘hardtail’ look. The  Harley-Davidson Softail Standard was discontinued for 2007.  Compared to later motorcycles, the main differences are that it hasn’t got the latest air cooled engine and other minor refinements.
