This is the world’s first production electric superbike. With two 96V Angi 95R motors housed in a KTM RC8 rolling chassis, this is an electric bike that not only really handles, it’s powerful and fast too. It’s brilliant around town and is fun on the open road. It takes around five hours to charge (and costs pennies) from a domestic power source and has a range of between 25 and 100-miles depending on how hard you ride it. Only the price and the range stop the Mavizen TTX scoring five out of five, but it shows that electric bikes could really be the future.

Two 96V DC Agni 95R motors and Mavizen/Kelly controller powered by a lithium polymer battery pack, made up of around 80-100 mobile phone-sized battery cells. Power: 60kWh (81bhp)@ 4800rpm. Torque: 77ftlb@4800rpm.
The entire drive train (the motors, controllers and battery) can by changed in under three minutes. The strange thing about the Mavizen is it makes no noise when it’s on and ready to go, so you need to make sure you don’t (or someone else doesn’t) twist the throttle by accident when the bike is on its stand, or when you’re sitting on it and not holding on. It delivers maximum torque instantly, so acceleration is brisk and there’s a top speed of up to 125mph.

Around town the Mavizen is utterly smooth, there’s no vibrations, noise or the normal stench you get from a petrol engine, it’s completely relaxing to ride. For faster riding the handling is excellent and there’s lots of grip, although you never feel as dug into to the tarmac as you do with a conventional engine helping you out with stability through the corners.

A race-bred chassis has fully adjustable WP suspension, Brembo brakes and Pirelli Diablo Super Corsas as standard. The Mavizen comes with a touch-screen dash with a battery management system incorporated. The bike has built-in Wi Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a USB system – its power characteristics can be easily altered by lap top or remotely by Mavizen.

The RC8 chassis is beautifully built and won’t give you any reliability woes. There’s very little to go wrong with the motor with so few moving parts.

Although the Mavizen TTX02 costs little to run, the purchase price is very high, with the battery pack accounting for a big slice of the cost.
