MCN overall verdict rating is 3

The Yamaha YP400 Majesty is a fair bit heavier than the 250, but has beefed up suspension and a much more touring biased set of bodywork panels. It's supremely comfortable, good on fuel, but the 125/250 Majesty makes a better commuter than the Yamaha YP400 Majesty and the T-Max makes a better maxi scooter for another £700.

Engine

MCN rating rating is 3
Owners' rating rating is 0

The Yamaha YP400 Majesty's single cylinder 395cc unit is really quiet, smooth and pleasant to use, but a mere 34bhp pushing along 197kgs dry (same as the T-Max 500) just isn't enough oomph for the open road - especially when riding two-up.

Ride and Handling

MCN rating rating is 4
Owners' rating rating is 0

The chassis is excellent and the Yamaha YP400 Majesty can handle twisty roads just as well as many small motorcycles. You will be amazed at how rapidly you can cut through traffic on busy A roads. The Yamaha YP400 Majesty's sheer weight eventually loads up the front end when you push hard however.

Equipment

MCN rating rating is 4
Owners' rating rating is 0

Comprehensive dashboard, loads of storage space, great mirrors, lighting and a grab rail all help make the Yamaha YP400 Majesty a practical way to get around. Optional extras on the Yamaha YP400 Majesty include top case, backrest and heated grips for all year round commuters.

Quality and Reliability

MCN rating rating is 5
Owners' rating rating is 0

The Yamaha YP400 Majesty really impresses you with its finish, the way everything fits nicely and the quality of the ride. Yamaha YP400 Majesty engines are renowned for their mile-munching durability. The Yamaha YP400 Majesty is definitely a cut above rivals like the Burgman 400 or Piaggio X9 500.

Value

MCN rating rating is 4
Owners' rating rating is 0

The Yamaha YP400 Majesty has a two year warranty and there's a useful range of accessories, but an all-rounder bike like a Kawasaki Versys, or CBF600 Honda might do the same commuting/touring job, but offer more of a grin factor at the weekends. Find Yamaha YP400 Majesty motorcycles for sale.
