Kawasaki Z750R (2011-current)

£7,349

748cc, 105bhp, 130mph, Insurance group 11

Kawasaki say they’re gunning for the Street Triple R with the new Z750R, but it ultimately lacks excitement and you don’t get the kind of performance you want from a 750 or an ‘R’ tagged bike. Vertemati Supermoto (2002-2004)

N/A

570cc, 57bhp, 105mph, Insurance group 10

CCM 644E Trail (2002-current)

£4,618

644cc, 53bhp, 110mph, Insurance group 11

The CCM 644E Trail is a versatile Suzuki-powered single-cylinder thumper can turn from greenlaning motorcycle to supermoto motorcycle in just 15 minutes thanks to a simple swap of wheels. It’s loud, tough, cheap secondhand and great fun providing you steer clear of long straights and pillions.

Aprilia Moto 6.5 (1995-2002)

N/A

649cc, 42bhp, 115mph, Insurance group 9

Whatever star quality the Philippe Starck-designed Aprilia Moto 6.5 may possess as a motorcycling design icon (and it has lots), it’s sadly more than matched by its overwhelming ‘averageness’ in terms of performance. The Aprilia Moto 6.5 is OK, in a F650/Pegaso sort of way, but you’ve got to love to weird looks to contemplate it.
