Product Review: Knox Handroid CE gloves

Knox Handroid CE gloves, %XA3169.99 Time tested: North West 200 and TT fortnight (1000 miles) What%X92s good? This is the third time I%X92ve worn Knox gloves at the TT, and these are the second generation gloves that are now CE-approved. They have also changed the small venting spoiler on the back of the knuckles to make it sturdier. I actually...

Product Review: Alpinestars Supertech-R

Alpinestars Supertech-R, %XA3359.99 Time tested: One North West 200 and TT fortnight (over 1000 racing miles) What%X92s good? The connection and feel is excellent. I put a huge amount of effort through the pegs and the last thing I want is for my foot to slip. At the TT you spend a huge amount of your time stood up on the pegs,...

Product Review: Scott Leathers one-piece race suit

Scott Leathers one-piece race suit, %XA3899 Time tested: 17 TT laps (641.41 racing miles) What%X92s good? I love my made-to-measure Scott leathers. Not only do they look amazing in this tribute design to former World Superbike champion Scott Russell, but the fit is near-perfect thanks to being made to measure. And they%X92re not stupid money like some made-to-measure leathers. Scott Leathers have...

Product Review: Arai RX-7R, %XA3599.99 helmet plus %XA3500 paintjob

Arai RX-7R, %XA3599.99 helmet plus %XA3500 paintjob Time tested: North West 200 and TT fortnight What%X92s good? It%X92s the obvious choice at the TT, not just because the RX-7R is an excellent helmet but the back-up service at the TT from Arai is invaluable. After each session, including practice week, my Arai gets a full service, clean and check over. This service...

Product Review: Segura Tom textile jacket

Segura Tom textile jacket, %XA3199.99 Time tested Three months/2000 miles What%X92s good? The retro looks and snug fit that made me go for the Segura %X96 all too often waterproof gear is chunky and a bit on the dowdy side, but that%X92s not the case here. Most of the miles have been commuting in Spring and early summer. My journey is about...

Product Review: Auritech custom earplugs

Auritech custom earplugs, %XA3119 Time tested: One month/1500 miles What%X92s good? This is the first time I have had a set of custom earplugs and once I learnt the slightly different method of fitting them snugly I was a total convert. It took a long trip on a hot Friday through terrible traffic to convince me these are the future and I...

One bike for everything

Opinions invited. What's the one bike that will do it all?I cover about 10K miles a year, leisure riding, green laning, touring, commuting.I had a BMW G650X which was brilliant but 54Hp got boring eventually. Now I've got an FZS600, with 95Hp it's a lot more fun but obviously not as good on the green lanes (it does do the green lanes, I've just got to be careful). What I want is kind of a BMW XCountry with an FZS600 engine - there doesn't seem to be anything around.I looked at the Tiger 800 but it's far too heavy, as are most ...

Product Review: Draggin%X92 Twista jeans

Draggin%X92 Twista jeans %XA3209.99 Time tested: 12 months/1000 miles What%X92s good? These skinny-fit, low-rise, twisted seam Twista jeans tick all the boxes when it comes to fashion and, as they%X92re made by Draggin%X92, the quality is second to none. They feature extensive Kevlar lining in the seat, hip and thigh area and also the length of the upper leg to just...

Don't be baited

Just heard from a friend of mine who's been seriously done for speeding..He was traveling up the A2 on his recently purchased, Diavel at about 90mph, and spotted a car in his mirror gaining fast.Being a bit of a macho idiot, (which he admitted himself), he wound on the gas, determined that he wasn't going to get overtaken by a mere tin box.Long story short. It was an unmarked high performance Police car, kitted out with all the latest high tech speed measuring and filming equipment. and he got done at just over 140mph.So that's almost definitely a ban, which means his job has gone, he won't ...
