Product Review: Alpinestars GPX gloves

Alpinestars GPX gloves, %XA399.99 Time used: Three months/3000 miles What%X92s good? It has all of the hand protection of a full-on race glove, including a bridge between the two smallest fingers and a hard knuckle guard, but doesn%X92t demand the faff of fitting a lengthy cuff either over or under a textile jacket, which is what I wear for the majority of...

Product Review: T-Cut scratch remover

T-Cut scratch remover %XA36.99 Time tested two scratches What%X92s good It does exactly what it says on the tube %X96 removes light scratches. My Hayabusa picked up two mystery scratches not long into my tenure; one on the front mudguard and the other on the bulge in the fairing that covers the clutch. Having black paintwork meant that these pair of scratches,...

Product Review: Kappa WA405F rollbag

Kappa WA405F rollbag, %XA346.27 Time owned: One month/750 miles What's good? This 40-litre roll bag is cavernous. I used it for a long weekend away recently and my gear barely touched the sides. It's very practical with two included bungee straps that secure to the bag and then attach to the bike. Once anchored to the bike it%X92s surprisingly stable. Off the...

Help a newbie?

Afternoon ladies and gentlemen, looking at my first bike and appear to have found quite a good example of a 2005 SV650 for <2k. I've done all the usual, tyres look good, service history present, asked questions about battery and how it's running (been in storage). Is there anything in particular that might have slipped my mind, or that something in particular those with a bit more knowledge might point out? It's not the most money in the world, but i've saved my pennies and i'm intending to have this bike for quite a while, so i'd appreciate any tips or hints?cheers

Product Review: Dark Sky weather app

Dark Sky weather app, %XA32.99 Time tested: Four months What%X92s good? It%X92s a weather forecasting app that uses ultra-localised data to give you the exact forecast for the next hour, wherever you are, meaning you can ride away from impending rain, find a caf%XE9 or at the very least get my waterproofs on. The app uses weather radar info for the area...

Product Review: Bike HUD

Bike HUD, %XA3397 (currently %XA3297) Time tested: Two months/1500 miles What%X92s good? Despite the doubtful comments from most who%X92ve seen it, it works. This is a small screen that sits just in front of the rider%X92s cheek and makes it a matter of a small flicker of the eyes to collect information like road speed, gear position, time and outside temperature. The...

Product Review: Sealey twin-cylinder foot pump

Sealey twin-cylinder foot pump: %XA311.17 Time used: One racing season. What%X92s good? I%X92ve been using this for regularly for racing, as well as keeping my road bike, pushbike and car tyres inflated. The double cylinder gives more bang for your buck and the unit is pretty sturdy. Sometimes the metal frame on cheap footpumps like this can be too thin and will...

Product Review: Spada Gear boots

Spada Gear boots %XA379.99 Time tested: Four months/2000 miles What%X92s good? When you don%X92t need the faff of full-sized sports boots, these Spada Gear are simple, sports-styled leather boots that provide reasonable ankle and foot protection. I use them for commuting, combined with Kevlar jeans, and they%X92re quick to get on and off thanks to the zip and Velcro fastening on the...

Product Review: Oxford First Time Mini Tankbag

Oxford First Time Mini Tankbag, %XA334.99 Time tested: One week/2300 miles What%X92s good? The convenience of having the essentials right where I need them makes a long riding trip so much easier, which is where tankbags score highly in my book. But the bulk can make them awkward when riding and, especially, when refuelling. This small Oxford bag is small enough to...
