Derbi GPR125 (2005-current)

The GPR125 is arguably one of the most beautifully styled 125 machines ever made. On a murky day you might mistake it for a baby Ducati or MV Agusta. It also goes very well (de-restricted of course ) and handles just like a race bike, with firm suspension and a substantial 300mm front disc brake. A teenage dream on wheels.

Aprilia MX125 (2004-current)

Just amazing fun - once de-restricted of course - with a rev-happy two-stroke engine taken from the race-bred Aprilia RS125 and an excellent Supermoto style chassis. The MX125 has real class, looks and feels like a proper grown up motorbike, but question marks over reliability, high initial price and insurance make this an expensive proposition for any 17-year-old
