Cutting out

I have heard this happens but until recently it hasnt happened to me. Under hard braking coming to a stop say for traffic lights the engine dies and unless the clutch is engaged the rear wheel locks and skips. I played around with different scenarios and it definately occurs more under severe braking. I have informed my dealer who in turn has e mailed KTM. Unfortunately he is now away for 3 weeks and although he told me to speak to one of his assistants i'm prepared to wait so i can speak with him and keep the trail of ...

Why is there no LC8 owners club?

Guys, having been down to beaulieu this weekend and seen the torrent of GS1150s and the various owners clubs they have. It made me think. I have only just bought mine, but I have not found a UK owners club yet. I went over to the KTM stand where they had only 1 LC8 in black, despite competing with 25 years of the GS. The Touratech stand had made more of an effort with a very heavily tricked-up bracken GO!!! (just like mine, big grin!) Hence I started thinking some more... By now, I had pictures of stands in my ...

950 Brakes

Hi - another new 950 owner - have now done 300 miles so half way through running it in. Fantastic bike - leve it and really getting into it. Only problem is the brakes - has anyone else had problems with them. The rear squeals like a banshee in town but more irritating is a slight hum or moan at really low creeping speed - from the front brakes I think. Dealer says the back is a standard problem - any solutions? Front brake they seem to lost - I'd like to see if anyone else has an issue or ...

All good to hear but....

To all you SD owners, I've just had a test ride on an SD at my local dealers (Albion Motorcycles - Exeter, Devon - a very nice bunch of blokes!) Before taking the %XA38400 plunge (Ouch!) I wanted a few questions answered to put my mind at rest so I've read all 40 of the messages you guys have left and nothing there detracts really me from still wanting one of these bikes - I loved it the 1st time I saw it too! Not the crappy tank range, not the stalling, not the glitchy throttle response - although I ...

My impression so far of the 950 Adventure

I know most of us like to hear from guys with the same bikes, the good points and bad points, etc so it was quite nice to find this bulletin board and read some feedback. I'm based in the Borders fear Galashiels and have had the Adventure for about 8 months now - what a bike !. I never thought I'd buy a traillie but I'm glad I did. Mine's got Akrapovichs, which sound great, and the big plastic panniers, which are also great but they mean you can't filter in traffic because they make you the width of a ...

Test ride of BMW 1200GS

I had a test ride a couple of days ago - basically to see what I was missing. My bike is a KTM950 Adventure and I was interested in seeing the differences. I owned a old BMW but have ridden a few modern ones (R100RS, 1150GS,F650, R100R, K1200RS) so this is my unbiased opinion. Weight - excellent, felt light and well balanced just like the KTM. Power -Similiar to KTM Engine response - not as good initially, the KTM gives you instant blast, the BMW was ok but a bit linear. Shaft drive - a bit clunky, not too much ...

New big orange fella

Ordered my 950 yesterday - 2004 with panniers & stuff thrown in, plus mods to bring up to '05 spec (carb heaters, gel seat etc.) - %XA37,500 OTR. Wanted a black one, but they've sold out - better get used to the colour orange then! Do the plastic panniers come with the tap for the 3ltr water containers or is this an aftermarket mod? Do KTM supply heated grips? Can't see any on the website. If so has anyone used them? Anyone fitted a 12V accessory socket?
