k6 gsxr 750 vs 06 R1 any experience of both.

I was lucky enough yesterday to get a good test ride on the new suzuki gsxr 750 k6 my intial thoughts where to ride it with the mind of buying a great used example my local dealers have, But having been blown away by the handling i feel its more of a track bike a needs too much commitment to go really fast on the road. so if anyone has been lucky enough to ride the 06 R1 back to back with the K6 750 i would welcome your thougts and comments about both bikes. basicaly sick of waiting to ...

06 R1 600 miles

Fast approaching, I have been told the service is labour free I just have to pay for the fluids. Am I best supplying my own and if so what make? Or should I just let dealer supply?

Tyres

I picked up a nail in my back tyre last week. There's not really enough wear left in it to justify repair so I'm going to replace it. The tyres (207RRs) have been on the bike since I bought it and I've been happy with them in terms of handling and wear but they're getting scarce and I may have to use something different. How do the 208RRs and Qualifiers compare? Any other recommendations? The bike is a '98 model. Gavin

It's arrived!

A couple of blemishes in the paintwork that DM are going to sort. Waiting on tank decals to arrive and the crash pads being painted. Rear pegs will come off so I can mount a plate hanger where they are.

Synthetic Oil

I'm going to change the oil in my 1998 R1 and I'm considering using fully synthetic. Any comments? Anyone had clutch problems with it? Ta, Gavin

TomTom Rider on an R1

Those of us with the 2004-05 R1 know what a perfect long distance touring bike it is so I got the perfect extra a TomTom Rider GPS. Seriously though folks it means that I can blast around all the back roads in the country and then find my way home or to the nearest petrol station. The first thing I encountered was fitting it. It comes with a large number of universal fitting kits for every type of bike except those with two wheels. I have three very different bikes and it did not seem possible to make a neat ...

Exup valve

Anyone else had problems with the Exup valve on '04 to '06 R1s? When I turn the ignition on on mine it goes through it's cycle but instead of then going quiet I can hear a continual clicking as if it's stuck open or something. Performance isn't affected and when I rode it to the dealers to have the problem checked it cleared itself, (typical), only to resurface once I got back home. I'm assuming it isn't doing any damage by the fact the performance hasn't changed?
