I am torn between buying a honda pan european st1300 or bmw r1200rt, both bikes i have looked at are under 15000 miles and are in good condition, does anyone have any history about these bikes, i know this may come down to personal preferance. Also as i am living in Turkey will the bmw have any problems being air cooled?Any help or input would be very apreciated

hey guys I was wondering if any of you could help. Ive got a Honda Pan European ST1100 1991 Vintage. Problem with it is it has a tendancy to cutting out (subsequently scaring the C rap out of me). The bike is fine (if a little heavy) around town, but as soon as you get out on the motorway it cuts out. Stops dead, engine stops, no murmouring, no coughing just stops. it only ever seems to do it on the motorway and always decides to do it when im overtaking. When its cut out, after i have managed to ...

Hi all, please advise if you can. I have a 1993 pan european with an intermittent clutch problem. I have seen a similar post, but I have already tried what was suggested. The clutch lever goes soft on frequent gear changes in town and riding the clutch - open road riding no problems. It gets back as far as the grip, then ends up stalling and cannot get into neutral unless I turn the key off and back on - but lever will not keep the gear disengaged - put in gear jerk forward and stall. It ...

My trusty 1994 Pan European with only 30,000 miles on the clock has recently become "Smokey" when first starting up from cold! This clears once up to operating temperature but worrying for the first couple of minutes running! This isn't just condensation but smoke and first became really noticable when I had a Motad pattern exhaust system fitted some months ago! The new exhaust may be just coincidence but has anyone else experienced this? Otherwise I'm thinking "wear on the valve guides?" or "sticking piston rings?" Any views?

Hi all, I own a Honda Pan European ST1100 (import), 2000 model with only about 23,000km on it. Until about 6 months ago it was fine. Now I have an engine cutout problem. Usually at just the wrong moment, during a high(er) speed overtake, the engine dies. Not an immediate cut out, but a slow dying away, preceded by a noticable jerkiness in the ride. Turning the throttle has no effect. Ignition lights illuminate. I suspect a fuel flow problem of some sort, but the bike has been in to a local dealer once and had a total clean out ...
