BMW S1000RR (2009-2011)

BMW%X92s S1000RR is the German company%X92s first venture into modern superbike territory and what a serious effort it is. Although it shares similar technology to the competition (GSX-R1000, Fireblade, ZX-10R etc) of dohc, 16-valves, stacked gearbox and so on, the engine delivers a mighty class leading claimed 190bhp at the back wheel. Add a good gearbox, impressive fuel injection and electronics, it...

Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade (2009-2012)

The big news for the 2009 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade isn%X92t its new, oval-shaped indicators, but its revolutionary electronically-controlled Combined ABS system. This makes the Honda Fireblade the world%X92s first ever ABS-equipped superbike. This system takes none of the enjoyment out of riding this incredible superbike and it feels just the same to ride as a normal Blade, even on the...

Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade (2008-2009)

Since 1992 the name FireBlade has conjured visions of a hard-charging superbike with attitude. While this is true of the very first two models, since then the FireBlade became a model of respectability. The 2006-07 model was arguably the best road-going superbike by being fast and bland in the same wheelbase. The 2008 FireBlade comes with attitude from its rev-happy...

New Nightrod

I have recently bought myself a 2007 Nightrod. Not because I wanted to partake in the Harley lifestyle, but simply because when I saw the bike I had to own it. It was not a rational or wise decision; it was decision based on pure lust. It had 106 miles on it the day I picked it up and I did 350 miles on it straight off. It is utterly addictive. The surge of power you get when you wind the throttle open is incredible and just keeps me grinning non stop. I rode her through the wind and rain on sunday night for 3 hours until ...

Brake caliper bolts

I could do with an answer to this one. It%X92s to do with a CBR 1000 RR 06.Honda instructs that the brake calliper mounting bolts are to be replaced every time they are loosened/removed. I needed to put on a new front tyre the other day so had to take them off. Don%X92t have any new ones so all I could do was just put the ones I have back on and torque them up, but I'm now riding around wondering if I have to brake hard will they break off with OMG!!! Aaaaaagh Smash!!!! Consequences. Anyone have a thought ...

Yamaha YZF-R1 (1998-2003)

The third and final great sports bike of the nineties. The FireBlade set the agenda, the 916 added finesse and the Yamaha YZF-R1 topped them off with extra power and madness. Even today the original Yamaha YZF-R1 is a sports tool to be reckoned with and updated Yamaha YZF-R1s are even more potent and easier to use too.
