Aprilia Pegaso (1997-2009)

The Aprilia Pegaso 650 is a stylish street motorcycle that%X92s more supermoto than its traillie-esque predecessors. Easy to ride and with great handling, it%X92s an ideal motorcycle for newbies and, with its lower seat option, smaller riders too. Shame the Aprilia Pegaso 650 has snatchy fuel injection but it sure looks great.

Ducati Hypermotard (2013-current)

Replacing the original air-cooled 1100 and 796 versions, this second-generation Hypermotard has an 8v, liquid-cooled motor, a more forgiving riding position, ABS, traction control and electronic riding modes. Ducati are hoping these changes will broaden the appeal of their bad boy take on the supermoto. There are a few minor niggles, like a built-in blind spot in the mirrors and...

Ducati Monster 1200S (2014-current)

In isolation I like the new Monster, which has character, looks good and is modern but still very much a Monster. The new liquid-cooled engine is much better than the old bike%X92s. There%X92s loads of mid-range and low-down grunt, and it sounds fantastic for a standard bike. The handling on the S model is excellent, just as happy on road...

Suzuki V-Strom 1000 (2014-current)

The V-Strom is never going to electrify you with thrills. It%X92s not breathtakingly quick, but it is easy to ride and manageable, delivering loads of low and midrange grunt. You can throw it around with confidence and it%X92s backed up by excellent traction control and ABS. It%X92s also comfortable, natural, frugal and simple %X96 yet still has neat touches like...

Yamaha MT-09 (2013-current)

Yamaha%X92s MT-09 middleweight roadster should be spectacular %X96 a worthy rival to Triumph%X92s mighty Street Triple. Experienced riders will love the power from its 115bhp, 850cc three-cylinder engine, its ability to do easy stunts and the huge reserves of ground clearance available. Newer riders will enjoy the motor%X92s flexibility, light weight and low seat. It%X92s as happy doing the daily...

MV Agusta Dragster 800 (2014-current)

The Brutale 800 Dragster is a very specific type of bike for a very specific purpose. Don%X92t expect it to go touring or suffer a daily commute. It%X92s a proper Sunday show-off, at home honing about streets and back lanes, using its banging midrange and sorted throttle response to boss traffic with extravagant disdain. It%X92s as good as its looks;...

BMW F800GS Adventure (2013-current)

BMW set out to turn its 800GS into an authentic adventure bike and on this first showing have certainly achieved just that. Basically it%X92s an 800GS with a bigger (underseat) tank, extended bodywork and a host of options. Think of it as a %X913/4 version of the 1200 Adventure%X92 (even though, at 800cc, it%X92s actually 2/3) and you should get...

Kawasaki KLX250 (2009-current)

Kawasaki has revived a dead class of motorcycle %X96 the cheap and cheerful trail bike. Soft power, a novice friendly chassis and low running costs are completely at odds with the hardcore enduro styling. It%X92s as happy getting back and forth to work every day as it lolloping along green lanes.

Triumph Tiger 800 (2010-current)

Triumph%X92s new Tiger 800 is the slightly more basic, more road-orientated and novice-friendly (not to mention cheaper) version of its two, new, three cylinder dual-purpose machines. The other is the Tiger 800XC. It%X92s a great bike, too %X96 impressing immediately with excellent ergonomics, and a superbly linear and progressive power delivery.
