Pan European yearnings!

Hello all,
Just joined this site after many, many hours reading and enjoying all the great stuff on here. Been riding a FZ6 since July and enjoyed some great rides but now Winters on us I was looking for a hack for commuting. For some reason I am obsessed with getting a Pan, anyone got one and if so are they really that good? Looking forward to some replies, feel free to extract the urine :winkie:

Good luck finding a cheap one!

I've been keeping an eye out for a cheap ST1100 for ages but owners tend to hang onto them. I've heard nothing but praise for the early Pan's- indestructible torquey motor, brilliant for distance work and very low maintenance.I can't remember hearing about any weaknesses apart from the weight. For some reason the ST1300 leaves me cold. I have also heard a number of stories about dodgy high speed handling on ST1300s, a problem that apochryphal or not never appeared to have occurred on the 1100s in any way.

SShhhh....

me too!!!

Ive been riding a naked cruiser all year and its ace, but now the weathers here frigging hell i get buffetted all over, its a real effort to stay above 65mph and all my stuff gets soaked in my luggage. Thing is they cost a packet! i reckon im going to go for something a bit smalller newer and cheaper and get a DL650 vstrom. BUT.... A really good friend of mine has a couple of bikes and he swears he will never be without a pan. Both him and his wife love em, current one is his 3rd, (oddly looks just like the other 2) He is quite happy shooting up to scotland for a week and chuntering around the mountain roads (he is really good though and can get his wifes toes rubbing the ground when shes on the back) and they both reckon that its effortless to ride.

I'm on my second Pan :)

Just be aware that ST1100s are getting a little long in the tooth now so may require a lot of TLC. But, hell, they're worth it  this year mine went down to Cartegena in southern Spain without a hitch

That's an expensive looking cat basket, does the new owner have to adopt moggy as well?

Pan European.

A boring bike for boring people.

This bike is designed for geriatric Vovlo estate drivers with no comprehension of the word excitement.
