Valencia MotoGP: James Toseland disappointed in 14th

James Toseland could not hide his disappointment after he qualified in a lowly 14th place for his final MotoGP in Valencia, the British rider comfortably outpaced by Ben Spies. A lap of 1.34.107 left Toseland 0.6s adrift of Texan Spies, who is making his first appearance on board Yamaha’s YZR-M1 this weekend. Toseland blamed blustery conditions for his struggle today as the...

Same Old same Old

i think its great that Ben and James are able to race against eachother before they take eachothers seats as it simply proves who is the better rider. Today has shown very quickly who that is and I am sure spies will put in faster laps than James tomorrow. Foggy always got on my nerves mouthing off how he could beat half of the GP field whilst in WSB and still goes on about it today.James can bow out out of moto GP tomorrow knowing that he gave it his all and hopefully be a front runner in WSB next year and at least he wont be moaning (or at least I hope not) that he could of outperformed Spies on equal machinery.

But James you were quicker than Ben last week remember?

Blustering conditions? Dust on the track? Come on James, you have had two years on that bike and he has just jumped on it for the final round. I hope James can rebuild his confidence in WSB. Ben is clearly quicker than James but not by so much in my opinion that he should be able to beat him straight off. The banter on this site over the next few days should be good. Some people will really slate James then others will get all upset and say they shouldn't be posting comments on this site and that kind of nonsense.

To be fair to James

it's highly unlikely they were on the same machinery. JT will be dealing with the engine restrictions imposed this season, and Spies will be on a fresh bike, with possibly 2010 parts. Having said that, I think James should have done better and I'm sure must be feeling it a bit, particularly as this is Ben's first time out on the bike. Wish him well for the race, but can only see one outcome.

dovizioso

yet to find anyone slagging off dovi. a year on a factory bike and beaten in qualifying by Spies. for some reason he gets a ride next year and no mud slung his way. To be beaten by spies does not make you shit just not as good as spies as.

Forget Spies, he's on a factory. Try to keep up with Edwards.

Happy to stand corrected, it is entirely possible as you guys say that Spies has a much better motor under him!

Iam fed up listening to this load of bollocks about engines. Did yamaha give edwards a fresh engine for tomorrw. Funny how he doesn't seem to be struggling. Maybe james should have hoisted a sail seeing it was so windy!!  Plain and simple he is out of his depth in moto gp, and possibly will be in wsb next year.

top rookie

basically spies is on a same spec bike as toseland the rules dont allow a factory engine to be used by a rookie .until he completes his 1st year then he can join a factory team with a full FACTORY engine .o yes also spies has ridden the bike for 3 hours i think he deserves a clap.

performance.

Just had a look at top speeds. Spies top speed 2.286 kph quicker which is about 1.4 mph better. That would be aproximatley the walking speed of a 1 year old child.  Shame on yamaha for givig spies such a more powerfull machine.
