Men Motors & Harleys

yesterday Thursday 23/03/06 I was watching on men and motors channel a programme about a Harley festival in Barcelona.A group of guys on various Harleys were trying to bike down to spain on thier bikes. As a newbie when it comes to Harleys I was shocked to see the mechanical problems and just stupid things that the Harleys were afflicted with. One guy lost his ignition keys as he was riding down the road. There were also numerous electrical problems. The bikes were obviously well cared for as the guys loved thier bikes.the guys just shrugged it off as normal.I was thinking of buying a Harley but after seeing the problems im not so sure Now.it is 2006 after all & i believe a bike should last and not vibrate to bits.

don't despair CJ

there will always be 'tuff luck' stories about any bike and its easy to get the idea that some makes are rubbish. On here [and a few other sites too] you will get folks slagging off Harleys. For years I wanted one and yes I read all? the reports that said Harleys were slow, they were rubbish, they vibrated to bits etc. etc. but on the first of this month I collected my 1200 sportster and I love the damn thing. Yes its slow [compared to my last bike, a ZZR1200 Kwaka] and yes it does vibrate a wee bit even with the rubber mounted engine but that sound from the pipes and the torque...... if in doubt go get a test ride and see if you like it or not before you decide to buy one or not. I bet you'll buy one. Best of luck whatever you decide to do. :p sprag
