What can one say ? Fabrizio Meoni was The Dakar. I think the 2005 event should be stopped now as a mark of respect to this great,great man. It will be a hollow victory for anybody now ! Sad sad day

I only saw the highlights of the Dakar on Eurosport, but the memory that will stick in my mind is him argueing a penalty he got and getting it overturned, what a passionate rider.Yesterday a Spanish rider was killed, now Meoni has passed, it is a rough time for the dakar, but i think they would of liked the race to carry on. R.I.P Fabrizio.

The riders on any rally raid especially the Dakar are in my opinion amongst the toughest people on the planet but to witness their tears today for Fabrizio Meoni when they heard the terrible news has parred any comment that a mere mortal as myself could make into insignificance, so I will say only that Meoni was a brilliant raid rider and a true character who was liked by all his fellow competetors, and no greater testimonial could be given to any man than that. My thoughts go out to his family and friends and also to the family and friends of Jose-Manuel Perez who was killed on monday. Ken.t
