Suzuki GSX-R1000 (2003-2004)

Ultra fast, capable track missile that works far better on the road then you’d imagine. The MK II Suzuki GSX-R1000 (K3-K4) thou is smaller and more compact than the Suzuki GSX-R1000 K1-K2 models. It’s easier to flick around race tracks but, bizarrely, the Suzuki GSX-R1000 makes an acceptable one-man sports tourer too.

Reliability

I bought my K4 new in June 2004 and have done 54,000 miles on it. Up until last November (2006) I was singing its praises but then the servo motor which operates the secondary throttles failed. This part is serviced as part of the Throttle Body Assembly and costs £578. Labour to fit it was another £100. This has dented my enthusiasm for the bike particularly as Suzuki took 5 weeks to supply a replacement part and I had to buy another bike to bridge the gap. Has anyone else experienced a similar failure or a failure of any Suzuki Servo Motor? Any comments on high mileage reliability of GSX-R1000s would be appreciated....good or bad. Thanks.

I bought a K4 2 weeks ago and I absolutely love it,before this I had an R1,the gixer is way faster and generally better.I've put a devil magnum end can on with a removable baffle, looks and sounds superb, only paid £4800 for the bike too.Very happy.
