Video: BMW R1200GS Adventure v KTM 990 Adventure

There is only one bike that can really take on BMW's new R1200GS Adventure and that's the KTM 990 Adventure. And what better way to test them than to tackle a bit of off-road in the Cairngorms mid winter. Check out the video below to see how our team got on with the long ride north and the frozen conditions when they got...

The Whole Story?

Interesting video. To my mind the two key things that give a bike its character are its engine and gearbox. We know that for example when a manufacturer get it wrong (Fazer Thou anyone) a good bike can be ruined. Its a shame you didnt mention the character of either bike's engine in this report and compare their power delivery and tractability in different situations. To my mind the LC8 is an absolute peach, matched to a wonderful gearbox thats precise and easy. The BMW is totally different, its a heavy old lump designed to keep your boots warm and BMW gearboxes are "questionable". But what do I know? So can we have more opinion on the important features and benefits rather than repeating the fact that the BeeM has heated grips which we all probably take for granted anyway? Thanks! Andy
